Check out this loser! And we mean that in the best way possible! OZ has lost 11 pounds on his healthy diet and he's looking for a furever home. 10 year old OZ was adopted from SDHR as a puppy 10 years ago and returned to us through no fault of his own earlier this spring. He was a hot mess -- tipping the scale at 52 pounds (he should be 32-35 pounds) with fatty tumors. We put him on a healthy diet, took care of those tumors (no cancer!), his blood work looks good and he is doing great. Now all he needs is someone to love him and keep him on his weight loss journey. Oz is mostly a low-key guy. He likes to zoom around the yard for a few laps then comes in to settle down. Oz is a fun guy who would be perfectly fine as an only dog. He's just not that interested in other dogs. He needs a little work on his leash manners, now that the tumor on his neck is gone and his incision is healed up, that's the next step in Oz's development. He's housebroken and crate trained. If you'd like to meet OZ, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. His adoption fee is fully sponsored, he just needs a place to call home. You can meet Oz at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate!
All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.
