Smitty is a sweet chihuahua mix boy looking for a home. He's a around 8 years old and tips the scales at around 9 pounds. Smitty is accustomed to life with seniors and would be a wonderful companion for a retiree. He bonds closely to his people. Smitty can be timid when meeting new people but warms up quickly with a proper introduction. He has a typical chihuahua personality. Smitty is housebroken and crate trained. If you'd like to meet Smitty, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Smitty at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate.
All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
