Zelda 2023 needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

We generally advise people NOT to fall in love with a dog based on photos. But then we saw shelter photos of ZELDA and instantly fell in love of with her. She radiates happiness. So we pulled her from the shelter and she's just what she appears to be, a sweet joyful girl with a wonderful, outgoing personality. Zelda is a mixed breed dog, our best guess on her breed is an Australian Cattle Dog mix with a soft, fluffy, cookies and cream-colored coat. Zelda's good natured personality charms everyone she meets. She loves toys and attention from people. Zelda is about 4 years old and currently overgrown at 63 pounds and on a diet to help her achieve a healthy body weight. She should be in the 45-50 pound range. Zelda wants to be active and the combination of exercise and a healthy diet should melt the extra weight off. We had her thyroid checked, it's within normal range. She just needs a home with an adopter who will love her enough to help her achieve a healthy body weight.

Zelda was an owner surrender at a rural shelter. Sadly, nobody wants to adopt overweight dogs so she was facing the possibility of euthanasia due to overcrowding. Zelda didn't do this to herself and she's such a sweetheart we knew we had to give her a chance. Zelda is going to bring so much happiness to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. And of course Zelda will be REALLY happy to meet you. If she's still available by the weekend, you can meet Zelda at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate.

All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
