BANANA is a happy-go-lucky pup looking for a home. He's the kind of dog you can't help but love. And he loves you. He doesn't know you yet, but he loves you because this guy loves everyone. He's 9 months old and currently 62 pounds. He may have a bit more growing to do, he could end up in the 70 pound range. Banana is one of the 11 Sundae Bar puppies born to mama Cherie back in September. If you saw our previous post, you know that this guy ended up being dumped in a park by his adopter. We've tried to find something wrong with this dog, but we can't! He's great with people of all ages, other dogs, Banana wants everyone to be his friend. So far he's ignored kitties, but he might chase a cat that runs. There is not a mean bone in this sweet boy's scruffy-haired, long legged body. Mama Cherie is a hound mix with a wonderful disposition. Daddy is unknown but he must have been part wire haired pointer or Irish wolfhound or something similar because he has a wiry medium-length coat. Banana needs some leash training and some general manners, i.e. not jumping up on people, but these are easy fixes. He listens and takes correction well. He's a perfect passenger in the car. Banana is so happy to run and romp and play in the yard and is best suited to a home with a physically-fenced yard and another playful dog.
If you'd like to meet Banana, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter, or you can meet Banana at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-3 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.
