ZENYA is a senior potato in search of a couch where she can fulfill her destiny as a couch potato. Zenya is a sweet, low key, gentle girl who is grateful for every kindness. The poor girl has clearly had a rough life and needs to find a home where she can live out her years in comfort. She's an American Staffordshire Terrier-type mixed breed girl with a scarred and frosty face that masks a cheerful, friendly, affectionate disposition. Zenya is around 9 years old and currently 49 lbs. but needs to lose a few pounds, her ideal weight is about 45 lbs. Zenya arrived at Sweet Dream House Rescue back in 2015, was adopted, returned after a few years, then adopted again and probably rehomed once or twice. She was picked up as a stray in September and landed in a county shelter. She's chipped to us, and we ALWAYS take our dogs back, so we picked her up and took her straight to the vet. The poor girl was a hot mess with infected wounds and lots of scars. the infections have been treated and Zenya is so happy to be safe and well cared for. She walks rather stiffly due to arthritis in her joints, but that is manageable with anti inflammatory meds and glucosamine supplements. Zenya needs a quiet home with no rowdy dogs or kids. She should be fine with another chill older dog, but she doesn't need to be jumped on. Her playing days are over, she just wants to watch TV. Zenya is very food motivated but her weight must be managed carefully to avoid putting unnecessary stress on her joints. 

We have waived Zenya's adoption fee in hopes this will encourage someone to take in this sweet senior. However we would gladly accept a donation in lieu of an adoption fee. If you'd like to meet darling Zenya, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org.

All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care.
