The reviews are in! 5 stars! EASTWOOD is a superstar! This ruggedly handsome leading man-type is Eastwood, a lovable young mixed breed boy looking for a furever home. Eastwood came to us from a rural shelter, unable to use one of his hind legs. The leg had been badly broken, he was probably hit by a car. It was an older break, maybe 6 weeks old and badly healed. After careful review by our wonderful vets, it was determined that the leg could not be saved. It was amputated last week, and Eastwood came through it like a champ. It's not an exaggeration to say that this boy gets rave reviews, he charms everyone he meets. Eastwood is a sweet medium-energy boy who loves people of all ages and is great with other dogs. He's still a pup, around 9-10 months old and about 45 lbs. He's getting around really well, already trotting around and ready to play. He's a true mixed breed, we see some lab, plott hound, maybe some mountain cur and who knows what else. He's fully housebroken and crate trained. Eastwood needs a home with a physically fenced yard because we don't want him to run off and find his way into the path of another car. His adopter must manage his diet carefully to make sure he maintains his current weight. It's important to keep a tripod doggo at a healthy weight to maintain his mobility. If you'd like to meet this truly special dog, please fill out a foster-to-adopt application at dreamhouserescue.org. Eastwood has some veterinary follow-up appointments, so he must go to a Greater Cincinnati home.
PLEASE NOTE: after applying for a dog PLEASE keep an eye on your email spam/junk folder to make sure you don't miss any messages from us. Also please consider answering calls from unfamiliar 513 area code numbers. You can't adopt one of our dogs if we can't reach you. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care.
