I got a call about an older kitten sitting in a parking lot in the rain. She wasn't under a bush or a car, just out in the open. That was worrying to me because a healthy kitten will find cover. Turns out she was 8 years old, had only one tooth (which was loose so it was removed when she was spayed) AND she had lice. Had I known that she was old, toothless and had lice, hell I would have taken her anyway because that's what we do - we take the ones no one else wants. The lice are all gone now and she is healthy. She eats and drinks quite a bit, especially for her small size. I'm guessing she's making up for lost time. Her tongue sticks out most of the time because She doesn't have any teeth to hold it in. She can be cantankerous and does NOT like being picked up. She tolerates being petted but is getting used to it. She has learned from a couple of my cats that people aren't all bad.
